The new factory of the Mayer Melnhof Wood Group in the Russian city of Efimovsky near St. Petersburg was unveiled in October.

As the main supplier to date, Springer has provided key components for the plant in Russia, including the log processing section and the log in-feed unit. At Springer’s 8 ha log processing section, logs with top ends of up to 28 cm are sorted in 1-cm increments and larger ones in 2-cm steps. Logs are sorted to 56 concrete bins. With an annual production capacity of 350,000 m³, birch and aspen are also cut in addition to spruce and pine.

Springer also supplied the lumber sorting plant. Two sorting plants, each with twelve horizontal trays, were ordered for centre and sideboards. A non-proprietary loading unit exists for post-sorting of dry goods. Work can be performed here by an additional shift.

Springer also provided the planing mill at Efimovsky. This plant has an annual capacity of 200,000 m³.

This was the major consideration in choosing our suppliers, and we have gathered experience at our existing plants,” Anton de Menech, chief technical officer of the Mayr Melnhof Wood Group, stated on the occasion of opening ceremonies at Efimovsky.

• Bulk material conveyor technology and waste disposal systems
• Log in-feeds with load regulator for cutters and chippers
• De-barking systems
• Plant controls with measurement systems

For this reason the firm was represented at INTERPELLETS in Stuttgart for the first time. Eckart Müller, Springer representative in Germany, states his satisfaction “Many customers were pleased to see us at the trade fair. First confirmed projects and serious enquiries are at the layout and calculation phase. From Eastern countries especially a high level of interest is apparent”.
